2011 Double Decathlon - LMI October Puzzle Test - 15/16 Oct
A top-quality author, should be a good test.
Also looks to be a new system debuting to allow resubmission of wrong answers for a small penalty. Very interesting idea to separate answer-typos from actual wrong answers.

Lovely puzzles. Unfinished ones will be bedtime fodder for the next week, methinks. Nice one motris!
I'll supress puzzle comments until after the event.
As for the new instant scoring interface. Wow! It's simple, yet brilliant. Well done Deb!

Don't stay up too late solving them
!
I'll say this again elsewhere but Deb deserves a lot of thanks for implementing my basic grading idea here in a simple and clean way. It seems to be doing its targeted job of eradicating typos without us needing to guess what a solver meant. And it has been robust and not failed for any solver that I'm aware of (such as taking minutes to return a response). So great job Deb!

I really liked the new scoring interface and the puzzles were great too. Combining loop puzzles worked particularly well.

I like the scoring system, and I'lll probably enjoy the rest of the puzzles later - I seem to be very slow at the moment. I'm hoping it's just because I didn't do much for a month (had an exam to revise for)...
Re: 2011 Double Decathlon - LMI October Puzzle Test - 15/16
Agree with most of the other comments, there were some great puzzles. I did intend to solve all the hards first, but I couldn't get a few of them out, so I had to solve the corresponding easies to lead me toward the bonus. I did end up solving both puzzles of the same time on a few occassions and then ran out of time to do either Gapped puzzle, so that was probably a bit of a tactical error, but hopefully an error I'll learn from. Having an easy and a hard for each works really well imo, especially for less experienced solvers. It gives you a good chance of solving a puzzle even if you usually struggle with that type, or if you've never (or hardly ever) solved that type before.
