Asian Sudoku Championship 2021

Post by detuned » Fri 15 Jan, 2021 11:53 am

See this message I was sent for details. The ASC is usually an on-site competition happening at around January time - for example last year was organised by Rishi Puri in India - but this time round it's being hosted online so everyone can partake.

Dear all,
Due to the worldwide pandemic, the 5th Asian Sudoku Championship will be held online on January 30th 2021 (Sat). This competition is organized by Korea Creative Puzzle Association and co-organized by Beijing Sudoku Association. Below are the logistics regarding:
*Registration: the ASC 2021 will be held on http://puzzlerace.org. All players need to register an account first.

*Schedule:
Round Available During Duration
Individual Round 1 (GMT+8) 10:30-11:10 30 min
Individual Round 2 (GMT+8) 13:30-14:45 60 min
Individual Round 3 (GMT+8) 15:00-16:15 60 min

[To translate these times into UK time, simply subtract 8 hours - so Round 1 starts at 02:30am and Round 3 finishes at 08:15am - so I suppose this will be something of an all-nighter for UK participation!]
Individual Round 1 (GMT) 02:30-03:10 30 min
Individual Round 2 (GMT) 05:30-06:45 60 min
Individual Round 3 (GMT) 07:00-08:15 60 min

Take individual round 1 as an example: this round will go live on http://puzzlerace.org at 10:30(GMT+8) on Saturday, January 31st and close at 11:10(GMT+8) the same day. Once you click “Start” button, you’ll have 30 minutes to complete it. You can start at any time between 10:30 and 11:10, but if you start later than 10:40, the round will close at 11:10 automatically, giving you fewer than 30 minutes to finish.

*Categories division: U8/U10/U12/U15/O15
U8: born on or after January 1st, 2013
U10: born between January 1st, 2011 and December 31st, 2012
U12: born between January 1st, 2009 and December 31st, 2010
U15: born between January 1st, 2006 and December 31st, 2008
O15: born on or before December 31st, 2005

*Instruction Booklet and more other details will be updated online 10-14 days in advance.

Please keep healthy and hope to see you soon!

I really like the look of this test. Given the timings, I might try and skip the classics rounds and instead get up super early to have a go at the remaining two rounds instead...

Round 1: classics,
Round 2: simple, common variants
Round 3: slightly fruitier variants
