Re: ** 1st UK Puzzlers Convention. 19/2/2011 ** All Welcome
As Alan said, definitely worthwhile making the trip meeting up with both familiar faces and putting names to those others. It amazing how those mental pictures that you have of people are totally different to real life - Gareth - I realise where mine of you came from, it's one of the other blokes th...

Re: PuzzleFountain PDF monthly competition - january 2011
I have a problem with this website and my computer. It must be something to do with our works servers as it just locks up whenever I try to use one of the links. I can access it okay with my son's computer.

Re: LMI December Sudoku Test - X'mas Special
I managed to find time to have a go, but then handicapped myself by not plugging my printer in before starting, then having to wait for it to print other stuff out that I'd forgotten that I'd put in the print queue before I could start. Messed up the 2nd one, then finished the 4th after time, so ano...

Re: 11th 24-Hour Puzzle Championship (Budapest, 26-28 Nov)
I tend to stay off the coffee - not keen on the strong stuff, but instead stay on the "full fat" variety of soft drinks such as cola. Various people take different amounts of their own food supplies in addition to that on offer at the venue - I've taken dextrose tablets in the past, this year didn't...

Re: 11th 24-Hour Puzzle Championship (Budapest, 26-28 Nov)
Been putting this report together on and off today, between trying to work, sorting kids out etc. but here it is. I hope that it gives you all an insight into the 24 Hr Championship and that it will encourage others from the UK to give it a try next year. The weekend got off to a flying start (liter...

Re: 1st UKPA Sudoku Championship
Carelessness on my part regarding puzzle 1 - not reading the instructions. I solved three of them, didn't bother with the last because of the way that I'd picked my sheets up off the printer. Just had a quick look at the instruction file and it is certainly clear enough there. Learning point for me ...

Re: 1st UKPA Sudoku Championship
Just like to add my thanks to everyone involved with setting this competition up. I know that there has been an awful lot of hard work behind the scenes.

Re: Being culture-neutral.
One of the questions in last years 24hr competition gave you 25 points for working a word/phrase out from a set of pairs of letters that had been placed against other puzzles in the round which were numbered from 1 to 23 with numbers 15 through 18 missing. You had to pick 8 pairs of letters. The ans...

Re: World Puzzle Championships 2010 :D (Team Diary)
I read the reports on the WPC as the competition was progressing and would like to pass my thanks on to our team for representing the UK this year. I didn't have full connection as I was on holiday so couldn't pass my best wishes on before or during the event.

Re: 2010 US Puzzle Championships
Presume that you've all had your email with your score on. I hadn't bothered checking my answers after the comp and now realise that I'd made a couple of careless errors in the answer submission, misreading my notation, so my pathetic score is now even worse. Ah well at least it's stopped raining. I...

Re: 2010 US Puzzle Championships
Well it's a good job that my holiday clashes with the WPC as I won't be up for selection. I just couldn't get going with anything. Spent time with the Maysu which I'm normally okay with and then realised it was wrong - story of the day. I think that I only made 65. Started a few things but just coul...
