Re: 2021 WPF Sudoku and Puzzle GPs
The SPOLICY was no fun for me at all. The Yin Yang was lovely, but I couldn't see it during the event, same with the Tapa. I definitely didn't choose the right puzzles this time.

Re: Masyu
Here are some practice puzzles written by Neil Zussman, who has written the competition puzzles. Most are good checks to see that you've understood the rules, and the last one is a nice challenge to see if you're ready for the competition!

Masyu
Nikoli defines Masyu as follows: Make a single loop with lines passing through the centres of cells, horizontally or vertically. The loop never crosses itself, branches off, or goes through the same cell twice. Lines must pass through all cells with black and white circles. Lines passing through whi...

Re: Division D 2020-21
Hi everyone Round 5 is over now. The times were relatively close for most puzzlers, with the last three puzzles being the deciding ones really. Thanks to Liane for testing the puzzles for me. The times were as follows: Sam Cappleman-Lynes - 50 points - 5m37 Matthew White - 50 points - 7m46 Jeffrey D...

Re: Divisions A and B 2020-2021
For the Masyu (all cells), after a bit of standard Masyu, consider R6C6. You should be able to determine its orientation. I'll leave the slitherlink out of it for now. What standard Masyu? The only things I managed to get on my grid were the four corners and that the black cell in R3C5 had to go up...

Re: Divisions A and B 2020-2021
Jeff, I'm with Freddie - I found the second slitherlink the easiest - what am I missing about the first? Is there a pattern with 1s and 3s that I'm missing with the third? I'm struggling to get started on it. Regional Yajilin I found difficult too. I got the second one but still struggling with the ...

Re: Divisions A and B 2020-2021
Hi everyone Division B looks to have a runaway leader, but the scoring system allows for easier catching up as the margin of Sam's win only equates to a single point in this format. Re: 2021 WPF Sudoku and Puzzle GPs
Well done everyone! I had the anglers cave but didn’t read the key correctly, frustratingly. When do they put the amendments through? I don’t want to have to do and redo the UK Puzzle League standings if there’s going to be turbulence. Also, how are you supposed to do darts? I can’t find a technique...

Re: 2021 WPF Sudoku and Puzzle GPs
Yes, I found the dissection in the example was almost completely resolvable using essentially only domino-type logic (though of course invoking the parity properties of the path). Identifying the ends of the path only comes into play later on, both of which are forced by the fact that two adjacent ...

Re: 2021 WPF Sudoku and Puzzle GPs
Prime paths doesn’t feel like it could plausibly have such high point values (all 21 2-digit primes is only 42 cells and should permit bifurcation on 2,4,5,6,8) but we’ll see... Is this likely to be a mix of a path puzzle and some dominoes style logic? I struggled to start the example, but I didn’t...
